The days are getting longer and the air is getting warmer! A seasonal shift from spring to the summer season is ahead!

The seasons affect us, just as they do Mother Nature. We naturally go through a major shift whether we are fully conscious of it or not.

During the Springtime we shifted from hibernation and the introspective energy of the winter months, to energy of regeneration and renewal of the Spring. We don’t abandon introspective energy, but we naturally decrease it to make space for the requirements of the Springtime.  As we gently woke up from hibernation we set seeds of intention, of new beginnings. We mindfully tended to those seeds throughout the last few months, observing and nurturing them. We prepared to watch them blossom by tending to our garden.

Our intentions are not quite in full blossom yet! There is still weeding out and pruning to be done. More on what this means in respect to your intentions below.  

The summer season is a time of full light and heat — the energy of summer radiates at a high vibration. The subtle shift from light and growth of spring to the high vibrations of summer can lead us to lose focus on our intentions. You may find that you get lost in the high energy of the summer season with too much to do and not enough time to get it done – even with those long, dreamy beautiful summer days.

Ultimately, there is still work to be done on those seeds of intentions you planted that are now small plants rapidly growing towards the light to bloom. Let’s stay conscious of the subtle shift towards high energy, keep ourselves in check and continue to do the work.

This brings us to the intention of this month’s Spring to Summer transition Yoga Calendar – Nurture.

Now comes two tasks that may be considered not so fun, but they are essential! We must Nurture our internal garden by pruning and de-weeding.

We don’t want to be scattered and let too much grow as that will crowd things out or prevent the right things from growing causing us to lose focus. We want to weed out or remove that which is no longer serving us along the way so we have a clear focus for a bountiful harvest in Autumn.

  • Are any of the intentions you set no longer a focus?
  • Do any feel as though they no longer support your healthy living intentions?
  • Should you redefine an intention?
  • Are any distracting or hindering you from what you truly seek?
  • Do you have any old habits sticking around that you intended to get rid of, but they continued to grow anyway?

Let the pruning and weeding begin so we can Nurture the intentions that best support our health and happiness!
